Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes I got an email with a password for the account... a password generated by the import tool.

I also checked the database as you suggested and the user was imported. One difference between the test user and the other users already in the database is "user_pass_convert" is "1"... for all the other users it's "0"... no idea if that's relevant.

When I leave the enclosure field blank i get an error and the user does not import. But I also tried changing the csv file so each field was enclosed by "", and reimporting. Again it works... the user gets imported, i get the confirmation email with the generated password, but then when i go to log in with the generated password, i get the message:

"You have specified an incorrect password. Please check your password and try again. If you continue to have problems please contact the Board Administrator."

Could this have something to do with the auth_db file? That's the one part of the instructions i didn't understand, and have no idea about Hash 5 stuff... not that techie :-)
